free yourself from the boring stuff in life

point the padlocks safe

Trusted confidentiality isn't enough for some information, so we use modern cryptography techniques to encrypt your data. You can tell what is being encrypted in your vault by the padlock symbol at the end. The below tips are designed to ensure you have a secure environment in which to access your vault.

point general security
use hints
Why not use hints instead of using real information where you can? For instance, a common password of 'lampstand1' could simply be saved as 'light1', indicating to you what the password is but not to anyone else.
do not ever give away your vault password
You might choose to share your login and password with others (for example immediate family members in your household) - but great care needs to be taken if you decide to share your vault password with anybody. It cannot be changed unless you reset the contents of the vault.
lock your vault when not using it
You might be relaxed about leaving your site 'open' when using your own computer at home. But even in this situation keep your vault locked when you are not using it - and remember to lock it when leaving the computer. As a precaution the site is programmed to 'timeout' automatically after ten minutes when not in use.
fraudulent emails - phishing attacks
Some web sites (for example PayPal) suffer from fraudulent emails. A subscriber receives an email purporting to be from the genuine site inviting them to click on a link within the email, go to the relevant site - and verify their account details. Never do this! The link might take you to a site that is not the site it claims to be - even though it looks as if it is. The fraudster wants to trick you into giving them your account details. We will never send registered users an email with a link that you click on to get to the site. Always access your site by using your 'favourites' or typing myeasydiary.com in the address bar.
know when your vault opens
We automatically set your account to send you a text whenever your vault is opened for that extra peace of mind.
not your machine?
If you are on a machine you don't control then you aren't able to trust the that recommended steps below have been done. If you have 'real' information and not just hints in the vault then its prudent to be a little more careful. If in an internet café then perhaps be even more cautious. Try to avoid access to the vault except for emergency cases. Don't view what you don't need to. Don't agree to the computer remembering your logon details (simply logout if you did). Avoid leaving information in the clipboard if you copy and paste information from items in your vault. Remember to also log off from the site using the link (don't just close). If you access the vault, be sure to have at least tried to install rapport (see below). Apart from the computer itself, be aware of those around who may be able to see the screen.

point install additional vault security
rapport software
Install a product called rapport (the install link is at the left of that page) which points to rbs download, and enable it for myeasydiary.com - see their guide
up to date browser
We recommend, as with any computer, an up to date browser to ensure you have all the latest security measures in place.
anti-virus software
We recommend, as with any computer, an up to date anti-virus program in order to prevent malicious programs being installed.
for the paranoid
If you are paranoid about the contents of your safe - which is no bad thing, then follow these additional steps for yet more peace of mind. Ensure your browser has anti-XSS measures or disable javascript (apart from when logging into the safe), java applets, flash applets and other plugins (Firefox users can use the NoScript plugin to conveniently handle these risks). Install anti-'key loggers' as well as anti-virus tools. Use one tab when browsing. You could even try a 'sandbox' for your browser. Or perhaps don't use the safe! There are many other useful aspects to the site.
